Growing up in Labrador, Dr. McInnis was passionate about winter sports, science and helping others. He spent most of is youth on Smokey Mountain training with the Labrador Alpine Ski Team. As a first career, Mark worked as a Alpine Ski Coach and is a PL Certified Level III coach and instructor.
In University, he studied biology and kinesiology, learning about the human body and how it moves. At the University of New Brunswick; he first learned to treat sport injuries as the Athletic Therapist for the UNB Red Shirts Varsity Soccer team. While attending Lakehead University, he completed a Masters Degree and National Coaching Institute all while Coaching Lake Superior Division and Ontario Alpine Ski Team.
I decided to study to become a Chiropractor following a personal chance encounter that led to a resolution of a lifetime of Migraine Headaches. Having a passion for sports and science, Dr. Mcinnis decided to combine both and was gratified to see that chiropractic care promotes healthy bodies through better movement, by ensuring that all joints have proper mobility and range of motion.
Dr. McInnis attended Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in Downtown Toronto, graduating with his Doctor of Chiropractic degree in 1998 with Clinic Honours. He opened his practice Yorkville that same year, and has been helping patients move better so they can feel better ever since. Dr. Mark enjoys coaching, teaching and helping people achieve their potential best self. Empowering others, Dr. McInnis finds it gratifying to use his experience, knowledge and skills to help people move better, feel better and recover their health. It’s even more rewarding to empower them to help themselves. With education, patients can make better choices that lead to better long-term health.
Dr. McInnis keeps up with his continuing education, staying current on the latest research and evidence concerning chiropractic care and healthcare in general. His treatment methods include Diversified Adjustments; Activator Methods; SOT; soft tissues techniques, rehabilitation exercises and nutritional supplements. Dr. McInnis moved to the Kootenays for lifestyle and quality of life. Away from the office, Dr. McInnis enjoys active pursuits like skiing, biking, fly fishing; hiking, and dog walking. On the winter weekends Dr. McInnis can also be found on the ski hill coaching the Kimberly Alpine Ski Team (U12).
